Backup Procedure

Below are the basic procedures outlined for backup, restore and restore test. In your final procedure you should name the

  • responsible (responsible for the processes)
  • accountable (the one that should be accounted to, for example the customer)
  • supportive (supports the responsible one with performing the tasks)
  • consulted (gets consulted on forehand and can influence the process)
  • informed (gets informed afterwards and cannot influence the process)


Also known as the RASCI list.
Regarding to backup you should also mention:

  • frequency
  • restore frequency
  • agreements with tape courier and storage center
  • are all steps documented
